A Message from the Naples Co-Chairs for 'Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive!'
Lois A. Bolin, Ph.D., Myra Williams and Tom Strum

It is hard to imagine that this 45th Day of Rememberance in America began with a Kiss in Times Square on August 14, 1945.    Edith Shane, the nurse in the famous Time's Square Kiss, asked why could this day of celebration could not happen all around the country. Her words became a reality.

Edith had a simple vision:  to teach the youth of America about the courage, commitment and can do spirit of a generation who had and still has much to teach.

The Naples Spirit of '45 Committee is proud to present the 3rd Annual Naples Spirit of '45 and our mission is simple:   (1) honor the memory of those who fought abroad and on the homefront and  (2)  connect children to the values of the greatest generation.

There is much "Home Front Wisdom" in our community and we invite you "sit a spell" with those people whose imagination and resilience helped America to survive and thrive all those years ago.
